We are pleased to present you the 1st International Conference on Active Learning and Education - ICALE 2018, which will take place in Viseu, Portugal, on September 26-27, 2018 at the School of Technology and Management, Polytechnic Institute of Viseu. This International Conference fits into the dissemination of knowledge of the Learnin's Creatin' project. The aim of this event is to discuss, reflect and share knowledge and experiences related to teaching methodologies, specifically active learning. It will also address issues related to teaching, education and technology. Contribute to make this conference an opportunity for discussion and reflection. We are looking forward to welcome you in Viseu.

Conference topics

Authors are encouraged to submit original scientific contributions such as state of the art reviews and new research perspectives, groundbreaking ideas and/or architectures, solutions and/or applications for real problems, empirical and/or evaluation works, case studies, etc., in conformity with the themes of this Conference. Submitted papers must follow the main themes proposed for the Conference:

Paper submission

GENERAL RULES / SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Submission of communications is only permitted after registration at ICALE 2018 - International Conference on Active Learning and Education. Participants in ICALE 2018 interested in presenting a communication, oral or poster, must indicate this intention in the registration form, respecting the proposed topics. Authors need to submit an abstract, outlining the objectives, methodology and main conclusions of the paper, on about one (1) A4 page. Abstracts must be written in Word and submitted in doc format (download the template). Abstracts must be submitted by August 24, 2018 in your personal area after you have logged in. The official languages for presentation of the communications are Portuguese, Spanish or English. Abstracts must be written in English. Abstracts will be submitted to the Scientific Committee, which reserves the right to accept or refuse them, and to determine the way of presentation (oral or poster).

POSTERS

The poster presentation implies that the author (s) remain for the duration of the presentation. Maximum poster size: 120 cm (height) x 85 cm (width).

PUBLICATION OF EXTENDED ABSTRACTS

The authors of the papers accepted for presentation at ICALE 2018 will be invited to submit an extended abstract / small paper (3 to 5 A4 pages) for the revised publication "Millenium - Journal of Education, Technologies and Heath" and on the conference website. Deadline for submission of extended abstracts is September 26, 2018 (download the template) and must be submitted in your personal area after signing in. Extended abstracts / small papers will be subject to peer review, which may propose minor modifications, major changes or even reject them if the scientific quality is considered insufficient. Only papers reviewed, accepted and presented in ICALE 2018 will be sent for publication. Failure to comply with these publication standards may also be reason for rejection.
